|This project aims to develop the
knowledge needed for the validation and classification of hybrid precast
concrete walls as special RC shear walls based on ACI 318 and ACI ITG T5.1.
The project began on January 15, 2008 and will be completed within 36 months.
The specific project objectives are to:
(1) Develop a validated seismic design procedure for the new system;
(2) Develop validated analytical models and design tools;
(3) Develop experimental evidence demonstrating the performance of these structures under seismic loading; and
(4) Develop practical guidelines and a community-accepted Design Procedure Document.
In accordance with these objectives, the project will seek the adoption of hybrid precast wall structures by practicing engineers, precast producers, contractors, owners, and regulators for use as special RC walls in moderate and high seismic regions of the U.S., without the need to carry out additional approval studies.
